Snippet was created by a software developer who - as part of his project - encountered a very specific programming challenge, one that would easily consume up to 80 hours of reading and prototyping, while it would probably only take 2 hours for someone familiar with the related math.
The problem however was to get in touch with the right developer. After spending a few hours seeking for a job board on code deliverables (rather than job's), the idea for snippet was born.
Snippet focuses on deliverables rather than "jobs" and has a narrow-focus on software/code/programming deliverables. Snippet is a free service for connecting developers, startups and companies. The service is currently in Beta, therefore any ideas, comments, bugs are more than welcome!
Snippet is currently being developed and maintained by Ivo Jonker. And it's still in the phase of a hobby-project. I primarily use the project as a platform to try out technologies and to learn and encounter all the aspects of software delivery. While the shortterm goal is to learn, the long term goal obviously is to create a great marketplace for coding tasks & services.
The first beta mainly focused on back-end functionality, allowing us to play and experiment with back-end technologies to enable features we won't be needing any time soon, but are fun to experiment with. Our learnings therefore from our first beta were simple: Our site seems to do what it technically needs to do, but completely lacks proper functional guidance.
For the next(current) iteration we'll be mainly focusing on the conceptual part of the site. Which is easier said than done being a technically skilled and lacking delivery & marketing skills. Once again, we would be happy to receive suggestions via our contact form.
